Szczecinek is one of the most attractive cities of West Pomerania. The city is situated on an inlet of two lakes - Trzesiecko and Wielimie. That is why it is a perfect place for leisure not only for people who prefer active recreation, but also for those of you who appreciate calm and quiet atmosphere.

Enthusiasts of active leisure will find here well prepared sports and recreation facilities like the new complex of indoor swimming pools, sports halls, the professional climbing wall, the small football stadium and the Regional Tennis Centre. We also invite you to visit the longest water ski – lift in Poland that is one of the biggest and the most up-to-date lifts in the world.

Szczecinek offers also rental of water equipment: canoes, rowboats and pedal boats.

A relaxing cruise by the “Bayern” Water Tram or by the “Księżna Jadwiga” pleasure boat are another attractions that are worth recommending. Taking part in such a voyage, you can see the most beautiful parts of the city and its immediate surroundings to the accompaniment of live jazz music.
The additional attraction of Szczecinek is a cruise to Mysia Island. A small gastronomy and a place for a barbecue are organized especially for tourists. Water trams or water taxis will take you back to the city centre. Alternatively, you can choose a walk along a picturesque walking and cycling trail that runs nearby.

We also invite you to the “Wolność” movie theatre or to outdoor concerts that are organized during the summer season. The Regional Museum is worth visiting as well. You can find there a rich hunting, goldsmith’s and archeological collection. Numerous cafés and pubs and also the hospitality of the inhabitants will satisfy tastes even of the most demanding gourmets.

In order to increase the touristic attractiveness of the city, Szczecinek participates in the European environmental programme CIVITAS RENAISSANCE forming a consortium with the following cities: Perugia (Italy), Bath (England), Skopje (Macedonia), Gorna Oryahovitsa (Bulgaria). The main assumptions of the project focus on reducing the inconvenience of road traffic in historical and touristic metropolitan areas by application of innovative technological solutions and taking care about the environmental protection.

In the year 2010 Szczecinek will celebrate the 700th anniversary of conferring civic rights. We encourage you to visit our city in that jubilee year which will be full of unforgettable events.
