Moryń Commune is a picturesque place in the southern part of Western Pomerania province, about 80 km from Szczecin and 70 km from Berlin.
In the municipality there are two areas of “NATURE 2000”, and the great part of it belongs to Cedynia Landscape Park. Protected, rare plant and animal species (beaver, black stork, white-tailed eagle and the largest cluster of ivy in Pomerania), attract nature lovers, who then come back from bloodless hunting with valuable trophies in the form of great pictures. Clean air and beautiful scenery encourage to horse riding, cycling and hiking. The marked trails run through the areas which are the most interesting in terms of landscape and history:
bicycle path around the Morzycko Lake, about 12 km,
blue route “Morainic”: Mieszkowice – the Siegniewskie Lake – the But Lake – the Morzycko Lake – Moryń – Dolsko – Mętno – Chojna – Rurka
In winter you can find here also all kinds of paths suitable for cross-country skiing.
Our region owe the beautiful relief, numerous lakes and interesting stone buildings to the last glaciation. The pearl of the region is the Morzycko Lake. Clean water and up to 60 meters depth of the lake attract water sports lovers, fishing and diving enthusiasts who looking for underwater sites can come across the wreck of a Soviet fighter of World War II, and anglers – suuuch a fish! In the sweltering summer afternoon, everyone will appreciate the possibility of sandy beaches and cool off in clean water under the watchful eye of a lifeguard.
Moryń is also a paradise for lovers of horse riding. Three riding centers offer a total of about 180 horses and 60 beds. Picturesque riding, cycling and hiking trails are supplemented by the railway, where from time to time we can see the trolley, recalling and promoting the idea of touristic trips this ecological, rail vehicle.
For people who appreciate the tranquility and fresh air await forests rich in mushrooms and forest fruits. The richness of nature is complemented by precious monuments of architecture, cultural and sports events and the kindness of inhabitants. The hotheads of history, painting and photography come here very willingly.
It seems that surroundings of the Morzycko Lake were the favorite residence of the devil, and to this day there have remain some traces of his presence, among others Devil's Boulder and the Devil's Armchair.
In the municipality there are many historical monuments and medieval stone and brick churches in Stare Objezierze and Dolsk. They are included among the oldest examples of sacred stone building in Pomerania.
