Miłomłyn is one of the most beautiful places in Warmia and Mazury region. It is located by the Road no. 7 within 230 km from Warsaw and 120 km from Gdansk.

NATURE AND TOURISM
Due to rich nature values and interesting monuments both the city and the commune of Miłomłyn are frequently visited not only by history lovers but also water, walking, cycling and horse tourism enthusiasts. Picturesque woodlands in the area of Miłomłyn are paradise for mushroom pickers as well as blueberry and other forest fruits pickers. More than 80 % of the commune territory is covered by different forms of nature and landscape preservation. The most attractive areas are: the area of preserved landscape of the Elbląg Channel, the area of preserved landscape of Toborskie Forests , the fauna reserve of Iłga Lake, the ichthyological reserve of the Drwęcy River and numerous nature monuments. There is a lot of places on the commune territory where you can admire unpolluted nature. The ornithological reserve of Iłga Lake located about 10 km west of Miłomłyn is really worth recommending.

 

CYCLING TRAILS
The three excellently marked bicycle trails (red, yellow and blue) enable you to visit the main nature and tourist attractions as well as monuments of the Miłomłyn commune. They lead to charming and worth seeing places that are not available for motorized tourists.

WATER TRAILS
The Elbląg Channel is worthy of special notice. It is a unique, on a world scale, monument of hydrotechnic art from the 19th century. Miłomłyn, together with a levee that gives an opportunity of Ostróda-Elbląg navigation cruises and tours, is a junction point for that channel. What is more, in the area of Miłomłyn commune, there are two chamber sluices “Green” and “Miłomłyn”. Theirs old mechanisms are still used by water sports enthusiasts to cover over a 2 meter difference of water levels. It is easy to sail from Miłomłyn to Iława, Ostróda and Elbląg. Numerous lakes with batching beaches wait for canoeists and other water sports enthusiasts.

 

MONUMENTS
Architectural monuments of Miłomłyn are an evidence of former glory of the city which was founded at the beginning of the 14th century as a settlement on the Liwa River. Former Evangelical cemeteries from the 19th century and archeological sites that are located on the city’s territory are valuable for historical reasons. Traditional buildings of the neighbouring villages, especially historic buildings on the River Liwa, are worth seeing.

Nowadays, Miłomłyn is the city that develops touristically,  taking advantage of rich nature and cultural resources. Numerous resorts and agrotourist farms are coming into being on an ongoing basis.
