For those of you who do not like physical effort, Augustów offers cruises as well as gondola trips or catamaran trips. On the other hand, for those of you who like strong sensations, the town prepared motor scooters and parachuting. If the weather is bad, we encourage you to visit the Sports and Recreation Centre where the swimming pool is conducive to the year-long recreation and rehabilitation. It is fully adjusted for disabled people. What is more, an additional attraction of Augustów during rainy days is a professional bowling alley organized according to the highest standards and the first in the Podlasie region year-long ice rink that guarantees great fun. Picturesque tourist trails of the Augustów Forest [Polish: Puszcza Augustowska] provide unforgettable experience for nature lovers. It is their undoubted advantage that they are walking and cycling trails at the same time. Apart from this, you can feast yours eyes on the sight of a specific beauty of the local areas “from a saddle” when taking a ride on the horse riding trail (246 km). Various fests, shows, competitions and concerts of famous Polish singers are organized here in summer. Augustów is famous for such events as: Poland Championship in Swimming On Anything ‘It won’t drown what is suppose to swim’, Water Stars Slalom, Water Ski-Jumping Championship, Balladic evenings on Necko or Mayor’s Cup and Blue Ribbon of Augustów Lakes Regatta. Recently, the following events have been organized: Traditional Jazz Festival in Augustów “Meetings with Louise Armstrong” and World Motorboat Championship Necko Endurance.
Augustów is beautiful not only in summer. In autumn local forests are a paradise for mushroom pickers, in winter on the other hand, a thick sheet of ice on the Augustów Lakes creates perfect conditions for ice skating and iceboating. Numerous forest routes are ideal for sleigh rides or race skiing. In addition, local lakes abounding in fish encourage fishing enthusiasts all year long.
