WORTH SEEING
The Post Teutonic Castle Wing – located at the branching of two rivers: Wda and Vistula – belongs to rare water fortresses originated from medieval Europe that were erected in the Italian style with oval towers not quadrilateral ones. It is worth mentioning that the oval towers are typical for Teutonic buildings. The high tower (34,5 m) bent aside about 0,5 m (one of three in Poland) is an excellent viewpoint on the town and its surroundings. In season (since May till the end of September), the opening hours of the castle are: 10.00 a.m. – 5 p.m. Outside the season, after a phone contact – the Regional Chamber, tel. 052 33 01 351, mobile phone: 662 499 508.
- The parish Church of St. Stanisław Biskup and Our Lady of Czestochowa that was being built since the middle of the 14th century for about 100 years. It was vandalized after the Second World War till the 80s of the 20th century.
- A Benedictine monastery– a baroque structure erected in the years 1692-1720 together with buildings formerly belonging to a monastery that have been used by the provincial hospital for neurotics and mental patients. A pentagonal, irregular courtyard in front of the church is surrounded by arcaded galleries. There is a gate tower in front part of the church. In the recess of the tower, there is a Gothic sculpture of Madonna and Child from the half of the 15th century. It is open from 7:30 till 20.00, the galleries can be visited only with a priest.
- The Old Market Square with the neo-Gothic Town Hall from the end of the 19th century.
- The Roman Catholic Church of St. Andrew Bobola – the neo-Gothic temple from the years 1892-1894, the tower of which dominates over the town. The most valuable piece of its furnishings is a painting “the Last Judgement” from the turn of the 16th and 17th century.
